Dr. Pen Quick Start Guide

To ensure a safe and comfortable experience with microneedling, please follow these guidelines. Note that microneedling should be performed every 4 to 6 weeks.
01: Preparation

Stop Specific Medications and Substances: Avoid anti-inflammatory medications, alcohol, or fish oil supplements for three days before treatment.

Required Items: Gather Dr. Pen microneedling device, a clean towel, a new microneedle cartridge, alcohol disinfectant solution, cotton pads, recommended serum or hyaluronic acid, and optional items like surgical gloves and numbing cream.

Cleanse the Skin: Tie back your hair, use a cleanser to remove makeup and lotion, and ensure the skin is thoroughly cleaned.

Apply Numbing Cream (Optional): Apply a numbing cream with at least 5% lidocaine to the treatment area and leave it on for 20-30 minutes. Remove with alcohol or chlorhexidine solution.

Check and Prepare the Device: Ensure the device is charged or near a power source. Clean the treatment area, the device, and surrounding surfaces.

Apply Hyaluronic Acid Serum: Apply the serum to the treatment area to hydrate the skin and facilitate needle movement.

Prepare the Device: Ensure your hands are clean; gloves are optional. Install the new microneedle cartridge without touching the needles. Adjust the needle depth using the device’s dial.

Microneedling Application: Apply serum to a small area and move the pen vertically, horizontally, and diagonally. Use gentle pressure and pull the skin taut with your other hand. For body areas, avoid bones and use a 36-42 needle cartridge. Use 0.5 mm needle depth for legs and up to 1.5 mm for fatty areas.

Cleansing and Moisturizing:

  • Wash your face with lukewarm water and apply hyaluronic acid serum to soothe and hydrate the skin.

Common Reactions:

  • Redness and pinpoint bleeding are normal and should not be a cause for concern.

24 Hours Post-Treatment:

  • Avoid sweating and makeup. Use a high-SPF sunscreen if going outside. If makeup is necessary, choose products designed for sensitive skin.

Post-Treatment Instructions:

  • Wash your face with clean, lukewarm water.
  • Continue applying hyaluronic acid serum.
  • Dispose of the cartridge properly to avoid infection risks from reuse.
  • Avoid irritating skincare products, such as those with active ingredients, acids, or fragrances. Do not use exfoliants or toners.

After 24 Hours:

  • Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and apply moisturizer.
  • Avoid strenuous activities and makeup.
  • Limit sun exposure and use a high-SPF sunscreen if going outside.

After 48 Hours:

  • Continue using moisturizer.
  • You may start gentle exfoliation, but avoid chemical or physical exfoliants.

3-5 Days After:

  • Keep applying sunscreen and avoid prolonged sun exposure.
  • Focus on gentle moisturizing and hydration, and avoid irritating skincare products.

After 7 Days:

  • You can resume your regular skincare routine.
  • Common side effects will gradually diminish, and results will start to become visible.

Microneedling should be performed every 4 to 6 weeks for optimal results.
