Protocol Library
Evidence-based protocols for every major treatment category. Indications, contraindications, settings by Fitzpatrick skin type, session frequency, expected outcomes, combination strategies, and aftercare β your definitive clinical reference.
These protocols represent recommended starting points based on manufacturer guidelines, clinical literature, and collective practitioner experience from 2,000+ practices. They are NOT absolute prescriptions β every client is unique. Fitzpatrick skin type, body composition, treatment history, current medications, and individual sensitivity all influence optimal parameters.
The golden rule: Start conservative. Document everything. Adjust based on individual response.
A slightly underpowered treatment is infinitely better than one causing an adverse event. You can increase intensity next session β you cannot reverse an over-aggressive treatment. When in doubt, err on the side of caution.
Disclaimer: For trained, licensed professionals only. Always perform thorough client consultation, contraindication screening, and patch test before any new treatment. Your specific machineβs manufacturer guidelines take precedence when they differ from these general technology-level protocols.

Indication: Localized subcutaneous fat resistant to diet and exercise. Best candidates: BMI under 30, pinchable fat β₯2.5cm. Settings: Temperature -5Β°C to -11Β°C (start -5Β°C first session). Vacuum: medium-high for adequate tissue draw. Duration: 30β60 min per area. CRITICAL post-treatment step: 2β3 minutes vigorous manual massage immediately after applicator removal β improves results up to 68%. Schedule: 1 session per area, reassess at 8β12 weeks. Max 3 sessions per area. Expected outcome: 20β25% fat layer reduction per session. Visible changes at 3 weeks, full results 8β12 weeks. Permanent β dead fat cells do not regenerate.
Cavitation: 40kHz, power level 3β5 of 5, generous gel, slow circular movements (~1cm/sec), 15β25 min/area. Never: head, chest, spine, genitals, bony areas. RF follow-up: Apply immediately post-cavitation. Target 40β43Β°C skin surface. Continuous movement. 10β15 min/area. Schedule: 1β2x/week, min 72 hours between same area, 8β12 session course, monthly maintenance after.
Settings by Fitzpatrick: Type IβII: 30β40 J/cmΒ², 30β50ms. Type III: 25β35 J/cmΒ², 40β60ms. Type IV: 18β25 J/cmΒ², 50β100ms. Type VβVI: 12β18 J/cmΒ², 100β400ms + maximum cooling. Always patch test at lower end of range. Schedule: Face every 4 weeks, body every 6β8 weeks, 6β8 session course for 70β90% permanent reduction.
Settings: 1β2 MHz, target 40β43Β°C skin surface (monitor with IR thermometer β exceeding 45Β°C risks burns). Generous conductive gel, continuous movement always. Schedule: Face weekly Γ 6β8 then monthly maintenance. Body weekly Γ 8β12. Expected: Immediate mild tightening (collagen contraction) + progressive improvement 2β6 months (neocollagenesis).
Wavelengths: Red 630β660nm (collagen, 2β3mm penetration). Blue 415β420nm (acne, 1mm). NIR 810β850nm (deep tissue, 5β10mm). Settings: 1β6 inches distance, 10β20 min/zone, 4β20 J/cmΒ². Schedule: 3β5x/week for 8β12 weeks (therapeutic), then 2β3x/week (maintenance). Cumulative β consistency > intensity.
Settings: Start at 50β60% intensity first session, increase 10% each session as tolerance builds. 30-minute sessions targeting specific muscle groups. Schedule: 4β6 sessions, 2β3 days apart. Always follow your specific machineβs manufacturer recommendations as primary reference. These protocols provide general technology-level guidelines. Your machine may have different optimal parameters based on its specific power output, handpiece design, cooling system, and energy delivery pattern.
